Book Club

The Book Club at Henry Clay is dedicated to promoting literacy throughout our school, community, and world, and does so through a variety of different ways. The main method we've achieved this is through reading a book every month and having a meeting for each book. Some of the books we've read include:

-Insurgent
-Divergent
-19 Minutes
-Life of Pi
-Wonder
-All I Needed to Know I Learned in Kindergarten
-Looking For Alaska
-The Fault in Our Stars
-Maze Runner
-Perks of Being a Wallflower
-I Am the Messenger
-The Hunger Games
-The Long Walk
-Da Vinci Code
-Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children
-True Grit
-Holding on to Zoe

We have a monthly meeting where we talk about the book and play related games. For example, when we read Maze Runner, we had an actual maze in the library! The goal is that games and fun things surrounding books will show that books and reading can be tons of fun.

Another aspect of Book Club is the community outreach part, and this mostly deals with our work with the International Book Project (go like them on Facebook!). IBP sends books all over the world and it's so neat to see where they're headed.
